CONTROL Resonant Controls

Preview-proven verbs, DualSense and Xbox support, and remaps to expect at launch.

CONTROL Resonant Controls

Button maps change between preview builds and day-one patches. This page records what CONTROL Resonant previews have actually demonstrated, describes actions as verbs, and refuses to invent a full unconfirmed glyph chart. Digital launch remains 24 September 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC; treat every bind below as provisional until your launch options menu says otherwise.

Deepen the verbs with the combat guide and the traversal guide. First-hour context lives in Getting Started.

Confirmed or repeatedly shown inputs

The Gap — hold Down on the d-pad

The clearest published control detail: open The Gap by holding Down on the d-pad. The Gap is Dylan’s mind-space for Resonant ability loadouts — six slots as two banks of three. You will live in this menu after bosses and before hard arenas. Put the hold somewhere you will not tap by accident while steering camera on a pad.

Keyboard and mouse users should expect a dedicated Gap key at launch even though preview coverage emphasizes the d-pad hold. Remapping is the sane assumption for a Remedy PC release on Steam (app 3669870) and Epic.

Everything else: learn verbs, not folklore charts

Creators and hands-on posts describe a familiar action set. Until Remedy posts an official overlay, memorize these actions:

  • Light attack — Primary string starter; builds ability charge.
  • Heavy attack — commitment hit; often pairs with charged Secondary timing.
  • Combo-ender — punctuation attack after a string.
  • Dodge — reactive evade; chase perfect dodge timing in combat practice.
  • Dash / double-dash — reposition and aerial string glue.
  • Jump / double jump — vertical access and juggle fuel.
  • Hover — air stall for platforming and delayed heavies.
  • Shift — short paranatural relocate.
  • Reach — snag, pull, or extend interaction toward anchors and routes.
  • Form swap — cycle Primary / Secondary / ender identity mid-flow.
  • Ability fire — cast the active Resonant power from your current three-slot bank.
  • Ability bank swap — flip between the two sets of three.
  • Interact / climb assists — environmental use, ladders, Bureau props.
  • Camera / lock modifiers — whatever assist Remedy ships; expect toggle options.

If a tipster lists exact PlayStation face-button letters for every row above, take a screenshot for curiosity and still plan to rebind. Preview HUDs are not contracts.

DualSense and Xbox controllers

Remedy has shown full DualSense and Xbox controller support in the preview pipeline. That matches a cross-platform Northlight release aimed at PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. Expect:

  • Standard face / shoulder combat layouts familiar to action RPG players.
  • Adaptive trigger or haptic flourishes on DualSense where Northlight already has history — without promising specific resistance curves here.
  • Xbox Play Anywhere convenience for players who bounce between Xbox and Windows stores on the same progress spine.

PC players can mix pad and keyboard. Traversal verbs like Reach and Shift often feel better on shoulders; ability firing often feels better on easy bumpers. Experiment in the first safe plaza after Zoe de Vera starts radio briefings.

Accessibility and remap expectations

We are not inventing a full accessibility matrix. What you should expect from a 2026 Remedy PC/console ship, based on genre norms and prior CONTROL options philosophy:

  • Remappable actions for keyboard and controllers.
  • Separate sensitivity for camera versus aiming assists if any lock exists.
  • Toggle versus hold experiments for Gap, hover, and sprint-adjacent moves if present.
  • UI scale and subtitle controls on the options root.

If a feature is missing on day one, check the updates hub and patch notes rather than assuming a wiki chart was wrong. This page will stay verb-first on purpose.

Suggested learning order on day one

  1. Move and camera until Manhattan sidewalks feel quiet.
  2. Light / heavy / ender on a training pack until charge ticks make sense — see combat.
  3. Dodge only for two minutes; then add perfect dodge attempts.
  4. Dash and jump into a short aerial string.
  5. Hover micro-adjust on a curb or low roof.
  6. Bind comfort for Shift and Reach before the first gated puzzle — see traversal.
  7. Hold Down to open The Gap once after your first Resonant reward — see Resonants.
  8. Practice bank swap so Mold versus Hiss rooms do not catch you on the wrong three abilities.

Platform-specific footnotes

  • PS5 Digital Deluxe owners with early access (from 22 September 2026, 14:00 UTC) should spend the first hour on binds, not New York tourism. Early access is still the same control philosophy.
  • Xbox Series players get the digital week alongside PS5 and PC; physical discs wait until 15 October 2026.
  • PC install size is about 120GB SSD. Uncapped FPS options and upscalers (DLSS 4.5, FSR 4.1 frame generation) change how dash timing feels — stabilize frame pacing before you blame your fingers. Specs live on PC requirements.
  • Mac arrives later in 2026; do not assume identical launcher remap UIs on day one of the September release.

Why this page refuses a fake full map

Invented controls become SEO poison the week a game launches. Players rebind, patches shuffle holds versus toggles, and photo-mode prompts steal face buttons. The useful wiki artifact is a verb checklist tied to systems pages: Gap for Resonants, attack verbs for Aberrant forms, movement verbs for traversal, and early pacing for Getting Started.

Print the verb list. Bind for comfort. Then forget the glyphs and watch enemy telegraphs instead.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for launch week, pre-orders, and first-hour combat.

How do you open The Gap?

Preview builds open The Gap by holding Down on the d-pad. Expect a remappable control on each platform at launch.

Is there an official full button map yet?

Not a final public chart this wiki will freeze. Learn actions as verbs — light, heavy, dodge, dash, jump, Shift, Reach, form swap, ability fire — and remap on day one.

Are DualSense and Xbox controllers supported?

Yes. Previews show full DualSense and Xbox pad support across the PS5, Xbox Series, and PC release.

Should PC players use a controller?

Either works. Many players prefer a pad for Reach, Shift, and aerial combat, with keyboard still fully expected on Steam and Epic.
